How to Tame Your Curls

If you’re anything like me, waking up in the morning when you have curly hair is a toss-up.

Your hair is either going to be completely ruined by bed-head…

You wake up with perfect ringlets and no frizz, ready for the day.

And more than likely, I bet the result is not the second option. So I decided to stop taking the gamble and invest in hair products to save my curls from the frizz-monster (it’s a real thing, I swear).

After a couple of months of switching from product to product, lots of trial and error, some good hair days, and some bad, I have rounded up my all-time favorite, curly hair friendly styling products.

  1. MOA Melaeluca Omega-3 Argan Curl Vitalizer Leave-in Conditioner

Bear with me–I know this one is a mouthful. I love this product for so many reasons.

First of all, it’s only $7.65 on Amazon. How many amazing curl products can you find for under $10 that actually last you more than a week??

I use this product every time I get out of the shower. Usually, I’ll use a towel to get rid of some of the extra water in my hair, and then I’ll use about two to three pumps in my hair. My hair is about medium thickness, so two or three pumps is enough to cover each section!

Every time I use this product, I notice that my curls are more defined and super shiny! Plus it has so many essential oils that really leave your hair feeling soft and replenished.

2. Batiste Dry Shampoo in the Blush Fragrance

This dry shampoo is my all-time favorite.

The size is small enough to pack into a suitcase, your purse, or to leave in your car for emergency dry-shampoo needs! Plus, it comes in a three-pack for ONLY $16 giving you the option to designate one for your most convenient locations!

One of my favorite aspects of this shampoo is the amazing fragrance it has. Some dry shampoos I’ve used have had fragrances that are a little too aggressive or don’t smell very natural, but this one gives the scent of a garden of flowers and I’m obsessed.

This formula is also perfect for curls because it’s designed to target your hair’s body and texture. It really offers that extra volume which is what I’m always looking for when my hair is falling flat. It’s also not tested on animals, which makes my fluffy-loving heart happy!

3. Chia 5-in-1 Defining Curl Cream

The Chia 5-in-1 cream is the most effective combination product I’ve used.

The cream promises curl retention, shine, conditioning definition, frizz control, and bouncy curls. And I swear on my morning coffee that this product absolutely slays in all five.

PLUS it gives the softest texture to my curls which is so important to me. How many curly-haired girls out there have suffered from stiff, crunchy curl syndrome? I promise, this product will ensure you never experience that awful crunchy look again.

4. Theorie Detoxifying Hair Mask

This Theorie mask prioritizes a healthy scalp and honestly, I’m here for it.

The texture is a little more grainy than other hair masks I’ve tried before, but that’s one of the reasons I love it so much! The texture, says the brand, “helps to remove dirt and impurities from your hair.”

And as a girl with curly hair, a lot can get lost in there… that’s why I love using this mask to help me ensure that I’m getting a deep clean. Plus it leaves my hair sooo soft!
